CDU law student Marina Gomez had just completed the second year of her law degree when she became a law clerk at Ward Keller in late 2016.
In her commercial cell, Marina helps out researching case law and managing documents.
‘I’ve had a chance to look at immigration law and a bit of litigation too—I’ve been moving around a lot’ she said. ‘There’s a different job for me every day, so I’m getting a lot of great experience.’
Marina has been in Darwin her whole life, and first considered being a music teacher before settling on law. She teaches beginners piano in her free time. ‘It’s completely different to what I’m doing at Ward Keller, of course, but it’s lovely.’
On the weekends, Marina accompanies the church choir on the piano and performs for the residents at the Tiwi nursing home.
