With the exception of two years, Ashley Heath has practised in the Northern Territory since 1990.
He joined the commercial division of Ward Keller in 2005 after 12 years as a senior lawyer in the Darwin branch of the Australian Government Solicitor and a further four years in private practice.
Ashley rose through the firm’s ranks quickly, becoming an Associate in 2007 and a Partner in 2010.
Ashley’s expertise spans both the commercial and litigation areas of practice.
His extensive general commercial law experience includes corporate reconstructions, sales and purchase of businesses, loans and securities, stamp duty and planning law, and mining transactions.
In the area of property law, Ashley has worked on numerous major property acquisitions and disposals, pastoral lease sales, design, construct and lease-back projects, strata titling and subdivisions.
He also has extensive experience in Aboriginal land and native title law and preparing agreements under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act, such as mining agreements and Indigenous land use agreements under the Native Title Act.
Ashley also has a strong background in administrative law, employment law and civil litigation. He has conducted a wide range of litigation matters, including appearing as counsel in Federal and Northern Territory courts and tribunals.
Outside the office, Ashley loves hiking, but he doesn’t get to pull his boots on too often these days.
